- Rinse your two bunches of asparagus under cold water. Gently pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. To remove the woody ends, hold each spear at the base and bend until it naturally snaps. Discard the tough, snapped-off ends.
- Place the prepped asparagus spears into a large mixing bowl. Drizzle the 1 tablespoon of olive oil evenly over the asparagus. In a separate small bowl, melt the 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter, then pour the melted butter over the spears in the mixing bowl. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
- Toss evenly to coat all the asparagus spears thoroughly with the oil, butter, and seasonings. Use your hands or tongs to ensure every spear is lightly coated. This step is crucial for even cooking and flavor distribution.
- Turn your outdoor gas or charcoal grill to medium-high heat, aiming for a temperature between 400-450°F (200-230°C). If using an indoor grill pan, heat it over medium-high heat until hot. Ensure your grill grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
- Lay the seasoned asparagus spears in a single layer directly onto the hot grill grates. Arrange them perpendicular to the grates if possible, to prevent smaller spears from falling through. Don't overcrowd the grill; work in batches if necessary.
- Grill the asparagus for a total of 3-5 minutes. The exact time depends on the thickness of your spears and the heat of your grill. You want them to be bright green and slightly tender with visible char marks.
- After about 2 minutes, use your tongs to flip each asparagus spear to ensure even cooking and beautiful grill marks on both sides. Continue grilling for another 1-3 minutes.
- Once cooked to your liking, transfer the hot grilled asparagus to a serving platter or large plate.
- Take the half lemon reserved for juicing and generously squeeze its fresh juice over the warm asparagus spears. The lemon's acidity brightens the dish.
- Evenly sprinkle the 1/2 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese over the hot spears. The residual heat will slightly melt the cheese, enhancing its flavor and texture.
- Garnish with fresh lemon slices from the other half of your lemon. Enjoy your delicious Grilled Asparagus with Lemon & Parmesan right away!

Notes
For best results, adjust grilling time based on asparagus thickness. Ensure your grill is preheated to medium-high (400-450°F / 200-230°C) and avoid overcrowding for even cooking and charring. Leftovers can be stored for 3-4 days in the fridge and gently reheated. Experiment with garlic, herbs, or balsamic glaze for variations.
